David and his Grandparents
It was great for David to get some more time with his Grandparents. (Although he's the child who has had the most of it this past year.) It took a little bit of time, but he eventually warmed up and had fun with them.

Spring Soccer
Catherine, anxious to defend.
We had a great time attending Catherine's spring soccer games. She was reunited with her formidable team, "The Blueberries." Their star player and old coached moved since last fall, but they all hung in there and played tough and still won most of their games. Cath even scored her first goal! Spencer and Emma liked kicking the ball with Dad during half-time, we all liked the family-outing aspect of it all and the scenery wasn't bad either!

"Yay, I knifed!"
Spencer is really into Play-doh right now. And whereas Play-doh used to be my arch-enemy (particularly when our table was over carpet in our old house) I have now embraced Play-doh and it has become my ally. Nothing holds his attention as long as playing with Play-doh does and it buys me lots of time in the kitchen particularly. One day as I was cleaning-up Spencer said, as he was slicing into a long string of Play-doh, "Mom I knifed the snake. Yay, I knifed!" Also notice the $5 bill on the table that Sp received in a card from Nonna Aliberti. When he opened the card he said, "Wow! A hundred dollars!" If only we could all be so easily pleased.

David is 1!
I can't believe my baby is 1 year old. As exhausting as this year has been, it went way too quickly. I had some mixed emotions as his birthday approached: Gratitude, after his rough start (compared to our other kids) that he's such a healthy, happy baby and a little sad because I worried that I'd wished-away his first year of life. I think I remember his baby-hood. David is an extremely cute one-year-old. He is a quick crawler, getting close to walking, LOVES to climb on things (he's our first climber), loves to play with his siblings, a chatterbox (lots of 'na-na-na-na' or 'da-da-da-da'), a good eater and getting better about sleeping. We still love his big blue eyes and gap-toothed grin. I'm so grateful for this happy, healthy, active little boy!
Daddy's birthday
Between legs of Michael's tour, we finally celebrated his birthday The kids were very excited to make him gifts and we spent time at "Uncle Luke's Craft store" (aka Roberts Crafts :) picking out stickers and supplies. Catherine decorated a box for Michael to keep his glasses in at night and Emma decorated a can for a pencil holder. Spencer and David gave him a foam-rocket launcher, which SPencer immediately took control of.
Where is Spencer?
The first day of Michael's speaking tour, Spencer was in desperate need of his nap that afternoon, so I put him down in our room so that he'd go longer undisturbed. He was so cranky and put up a fight so I finally put him in the port-a-crib and walked out and shut the door. When things quieted down a few minutes later I went in to check on him and he wasn't in his bed. I couldn't find him for a few minutes- I looked in our closet, the bathroom, etc. but couldn't find him. I knew he had to be in there somewhere because the door to our room had never opened and was relieved when I finally found him behind the chair and crib, next to the wall. He had a great nap!
Daytrip to Gardner Village
In celebration of Jenni's birthday we met for an outing at Gardner Village where we enjoyed looking around, feeding the ducks, and eating lunch. We tried going into a fabric/quilt store which Spencer cheerfully walked into, but as soon as he figured out what kind of establishment it was, screamed, "NOOOOOoooooo! and ran back out the door. I guess I'll have to go back on my own or with just the girls sometime. :)
Happy Birthday Aunt Lynn
We had Lynn and the Sorensons (and Lynn's roommate Kendra) over for pizza to celebrate Lynn's birthday this month. The greatest part was when Lynn arrived and all 6 walking nieces/nephews ran to the piano where Catherine plinked out "Happy Happy Birthday Lynnie Dear" while the rest cheerfully sang. (They'd been practicing and waiting for her arrival.) It was INCREDIBLY adorable. I'd wished I'd had the video camera because it all appeared so chaotically random until they started singing. Michael commented that it looked like a 'flash-mob.' They all sure love their Aunt Lynnie!
