Our boy Spencer turned 4 last week! We had so much fun celebrating his birthday. It was awesome seeing how pleased he was by such simple things. (i.e. the Chocolate Milk next to him.) He has really wanted chocolate milk and dinosaur chicken nuggets for a long time and I promised him we would get them for his birthday party. He was SO thrilled!
And we had his first birthday party with friends. I was so fun! When Catherine turned four I hosted my favorite birthday party ever: a Dora the Explorer party. It was SO simple and the kids loved it, so we decided to do the same for Spencer's Fourth, only make it a Diego (Dora's cousin, the animal rescuer) party. The kids who came were so cute and so happy with the simple things we did. We loved watching them play the animal game, paint their "spotting scope" and "rescue" animals in the backyard. And then eat the aforementioned dinosaur chicken nuggets and chocolate milk.THE TRANSFORMER!! Spencer saw Optimus Prime at Target many months ago and it was love at first sight. He was so thrilled to finally possess him and make him his own robot. For those of you Transformer-neophytes (like myself) Optimus prime is a giant robot who can transform himself into a Semi-truck. Spencer doesn't know this (and this toy doesn't transform into the truck, which I thought was the whole purpose of a Transformer) but he moved Optimus' legs into a new position (like the splits) and excitedly said, "Look Mom! I transformed him!" Optimus is really cool. His eyes light up and he can shoot "lasers" from his arm and he makes really cool sounds and says things in his ominous voice. My favorite is "time to fight the Decepticons." After playing with his beloved Optimus, Spencer walked around the house saying, "It's time to fight the Leprechauns!"

So fun! I wish he lived near by so he could play Transformers with our princesses. We need boy toys around here.
