Thanksgiving Weekend 2010

A little Smart Family Thanksgiving Report.  This year we hosted Thanksgiving for Michael's family. This was significant for a couple of reasons. First, it was the first year Michael took full responsibility for preparing the family turkey.  He even went super gourmet and brined it for 24 hours beforehand.  The results were phenomenal.
Second, this was the first Thanksgiving Michael has had with his parents in 19 years. (Since he was in High School!) Needless to say, we were all very excited.
 Cousins came.
Grown-up table: Michael, Michael's parents, brothers Tim and Matthew, and sister Meredith, husband Luke and new baby G.
Food was excellent. (If we do say so ourselves - and many thanks to all those who contributed.)
 Grandma brought 9 homemade pies!
In addition to celebrating Thanksgiving, Michael's parents and brothers stayed with us for about 5 days. Sunday we got to participate in the Blessing of new cousin, baby G.
 Proud Grandma.
Tim and Matthew stayed with us for a couple of nights while Michael's parents had a getaway. Our boys were in heaven with some of their favorite uncles.  They had an Airbud (old Disney movie about a dog who plays sports) Movie Marathon. (We have T&M's old VHS copies and they were pretty excited to see them.
David and I also took them on an adventure to visit Cabela's one afternoon. Michael took them to work with him part day at BYU on Monday. I think Tim and Matthew's highlight was visiting the BYU football stadium. Michael has those pictures on his phone so we'll have to add them later. They are destined to be some classics.

All together it was a GREAT weekend with family.  We felt so grateful for the chance to have them stay with us. Even better because everyone was healthy and happy. A Thanksgiving weekend that will always be especially memorable. Hopefully it won't be another 19 years before we do it again!
