We had a festive Fourth complete with trip up the canyon for picnic lunch, then I took the kids (minus David who was having his nap at home) with my parents and Abby Cannon to the Colonial Fair in Provo, a cookout at our house with Udall relatives which included street-fireworks, and after we took the kids to a hill by Timpview High School to watch the Stadium of Fire-big fireworks from the BYU football stadium. Needless to say, we were pooped at the end, but it was really fun and we had great time with everyone. I felt kind of emotional this Independence Day (could be the fatigue factor involved) and extra grateful and proud to be an American. I got choked-up singing My Country Tis of Thee last Sunday at Church. Then when we were at Southfork Park up Provo Canyon yesterday I was moved again seeing all the Hispanic families there celebrating and the cute Chinese family, with kids decked out in patriotic clothes and speaking Chinese to each other, celebrating too. That's what America is all about- I'm glad we're a country that is willing to share the blessings we have.
I'm also glad for Uncle Bret who has the lung capacity to blow-up our new wading pool and the energy to do things like this with Spence. :)
