Emma's Dance Recital

One of the consuming elements of last week (second only to Michael's 6-day absence) was the yearly Dance Recital. I always dread this because of the cost, time involvement, etc. I was also a little disappointed for her because she was really disappointed that her role as a matador didn't include a twirly skirt. Then everything turned out much better than I anticipated. First of all once she put on the costume, she looked so cute! (I'm trying to convince her to wear it for her Halloween costume too - partly to feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of it.) Then, the recital itself was really cute. I got a babysitter for the boys and Cath and I went together, so it was fun to do something with her too. I like how her dance studio does the recital - there is an overlying story/narrative that ties the whole production together. It makes it a lot less tedious that watching a successive string of sparkly-costumed kids march across the stage to do their number. (Another good thing is the costumes are classy, not hoochy.) Also, the older company stars in the show and consists of talented dancers so it's actually entertaining to watch them. The younger kids are pretty cute. Here are the videos of Emma's dances. She's always the one on the far left. (I fully realize that it may only be grandparents who will thoroughly enjoy these.) :)

Grandma Rosie clapped right out loud at the end. Great job, Em! There were some neat moves in there. You'll have to teach them to me in August. :)
